sneak preview of world's saddest song

I'm almost finished work on two, yes Muselings, TWO new cds one of which I'll release this summer, the other at the end of the year. Here's a teaser - it's a song I wrote to address the need for an ALS song that was neither uplifting nor encouraging. Someone had to do it. I think Edith took the photo.

You are the epitome of what life is. It is all about feeling and expressing that feeling. It is about storytelling. If is about appreciating what we have, the gift of sharing. Finally life is love and we love you as well as our other anonys!

Carla,

For 7 minutes & 34 seconds I felt your presence all around me. Thank you. Now I'll go dry my eyes before I listen to it again.
Love you,
Beverly

Your blog is a constant outpouring of artistry, of honest, direct and intimate art, such as this song. I hope this does not offend, knowing how you feel about religion and that sort of thing, but may God's peace be with you and yours.

Hi Carla -- I played your song for my mother last night and we shared a big cry. You performed it when you were in LA a few months ago and it has haunted me ever since. It is so elegant -- exquisitely honest, beautiful, sad -- it's everything and it says so much about you -- your dignity, your courage and your fear, your love of life, of Mac, and appreciation for art, beauty, and discovery. You teach and point the way with everything you do -- from your wicked ALS Barbie to this heart-wrenchingly beautiful song. You continue to create wonderful art and share it with so many.

I wrote about you in my newsletter which went out a few hours ago to my patrons -- many of your fans -- and included the link to your recent posting. I'm so blessed to have you in my life. Sending love and good thoughts your way, Jeannine

I haven't commented in a while because I don't know what to say that isn't trite. But you move me as you move many others. You're a remarkable woman.

Utterly beautiful. Or unutterably so. What can I say? You are out there far ahead, sending back dispatches from the edge. Not all that far, as each day I'm that much closer to catching up. You make the way so much more bearable, bearing so much, baring so much. I recently wrote, about a survivor of the Jewish Resistance in Budapest: I think we all are given a spark of courage. Some, though, are able to let the winds of experience fan it into a blazing, towering flame, a pillar of fire, a beacon. That's you, Carla. If I kept writing forever I could not find the words to properly thank you for what you are giving us.
Yes.

Carla, I have quoted you on my blog in the UK and I earnestly hope I have not taken liberties in doing so. You are extra-extraordinarily brave and brilliant. In truth, I'm with Megan in this matter of finding words.

My heart is broken. :(
I hate to even hear the word "goodbye"! :(
BUT (didn't you just know there was going to be a big butt?)
I was also filled up with you, like I was with you.

I was lucky enough to hear you sing this at Anna's Jazz Island a while back. Your music is a gift, but your heart is an even bigger one. :) Karen Larson (friend to some of those amazing Albany moms)
