The Farewell
by
Edward Field
They say the ice will hold
so there I go,
forced to believe them by my act of trusting people,
stepping out on it,
and naturally it gaps open
and I, forced to carry on coolly
by my act of being imperturbable,
slide erectly into the water wearing my captain's helmet,
waving to the shore with a sad smile,
"Goodbye my darlings, goodbye dear one,"
as the ice meets again over my head with a click.

Beautiful words- But that icy water is too cold for someone who has warmed so many hearts- I hope you're not ready- I know we're not

No matter where you are,
You are the essence of life,
You are the essence of love,
You are the essence of being.
Your presence is in all of us
having any connection with you.
Your joy is our joy
Your sorrow is our sorrow
Our energy is your energy
Our love is yours.
Beautiful, as are you! Thank you for all that you shared...
Maureen
A beautiful poem shared by a beautiful soul. But like so many others, I hope this isn't your final post. Your words have been so moving and inspirational, even more so as it becomes more difficult to share them. I'm selfish. I want this blog to continue because it makes me happy when I see every new post. So please don't let this be your last post. But we will all understand if it's so.
Sweet Girl,
I don't have words other than to say it made me feel sad.
Love, Pat
Sounds like you were feeling very sad when you published this. Eventually we will all die. We all know that but do not face it as you are. You have left a legacy like few do in these pages, in Mac, in your accomplishments, in your CD's, in the memories you created for and with others, in your plays and performances....how many people can say that, Carla?
